Ancient egypt
A Brief Overview
Ancient Egypt was one of the earliest and longest lasting ancient civilisations. It was situated in Northeastern Africa, along the Nile River. It is predicted that the civilisation began at 3,000 BC, and that it's greatest days fell between that and 1,000 BC, however the civilisation still remained long after that. Egypt was once two independent city-states, but at around 3,200 BC they came together to become one unified state.
Most Ancient Egyptians worked as field hands, craftsmen, farmers and scribes. Some others were called Nobles (the pharaoh, priests, doctors, lawyers or military personnel). These different groups made up most of the population of Ancient Egypt.
Ancient Egyptians are extremely famous for building The Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza. Because the Nile River provided them with a steady supply of food and water, they had time and energy to contribute towards other projects, with the pyramids being one of these. Some Egyptians would also build temples for their pharaohs and gods, and would make a room near the top where they believed their god lived.
