surgery
A lot of the tools that they Ancient Egyptians were used in similar ways and some looked similar to what we have today also. They used knives, hooks, drills, forceps, pincers, scales, spoons and saws when they did surgical operations. Modern surgeons still use most of those very often today. Surgery in Ancient Egypt was often used as treatment for physical injuries. Physicians back then could identify three kinds of injuries, treatable (easily fixed), contestable (victim may survive without treatment), and untreatable, which is self-explanatory. The extensive use of surgery gave Ancient Egyptians knowledge of the body's morphology, and even a decent understanding of organ functions. They were able to figure out the main functions of some of the major organs, although they accidentally switched the functions of the heart and the brain around.
